The U.S. Social Security Administration uses an external data source, or what they refer to as an “Identity Services Provider,” to help verify the identity of our online customers and to prevent fraudulent access to their customers’ sensitive personal information. Equifax is the Identity Services Provider that provides identity verification services to the Social Security Administration.
